Disney World Ride Highlights

My parents hired a special guide to take us through the parks at Disney World.  We were able to ride every single ride and wait in NO line!  It was insane.  Claire was absolutely fearless.  She even rode the Rockin' Roller Coaster multiple times.  Crazy girl!  Harper rode a few roller coasters and did not like them.  Her favorites were the Toy Story ride, the Dumbo ride, and the Jasmine carpet ride.  Grandma and Harper paired up to ride some of those kind while Pops, D, Claire, and I rode the really scary ones.  We had a blast!

We began the rides with It's a Small World.  It was wonderful!  It has been redone and rebuilt since the last time I've been through it.

Ariel's ride - This one was fun for all!  It is new and super neat-o!
About the ride the train roller coaster (I am forgetting the name!)  I love Pops in the background firing up Claire bear.  Pops and Claire loved it!  Harper not so much...

Space Mountain - we rode this 3 or 4 times

D, Claire, and me on the Toy Story ride - do you think D took the shooting role on this ride seriously or what?  All business...

Oh no - we are about to drop!
And yes, she even rode the scariest one, the Rockin Roller Coaster that goes from 0 to 70 mph in less than 2 seconds, goes upside down twice, and is in the PITCH BLACK?!  To top it off, Claire rode in the very front cart with Pops TWICE!

Disney World Princess Life 2014

In May 2014, Grandma and Pops took our family to Disney World for the trip of a lifetime!  They didn't miss a detail.  Really...  It was amazing!  Because we packed so much into five days, I am going to separate the trip into several posts.

The princess life is one my girls LOVED!  Not only did they get to meet all the princesses, but they also got to go to Bippity Boppity Boutique to get their hair and makeup done, pick out the perfect princess dress, and then parade all over Disney World looking like a princess. To top it off, Grandma and Pops surprised all of us with a princess dinner in Cinderella's castle.  Yes, we had dinner with all the Disney princesses!!  The kids were in hog heaven!

Grandma surprised the girls on the last morning with a special Grandma/granddaughter princess tea with Aurora!  Like I said, Grandma and Pops didn't miss a single detail.  This trip was BEYOND magical.

Meeting Ariel - One of my favorite stories happened with Ariel.  Harper says "Ariel, I have to tell you something.  I hate to tell you, but a fork is NOT a brush."  That girl...

Some fun Spring moments with Lilliann and Lyla

Lilliann and Lyla came in town for Claire's birthday.  Lashelle was not able to come, but Mimi & Papa brought the girls with them.  My big girls LOVE to entertain their little cousins.

Below is a clip of Claire and Lilliann playing chase:

Golden Girls Soccer - Spring 2014

March - May 2014 - Claire joined NASA Soccer League this year.  It is a more competitive league than anything she has done in the past.  It involves weekly practices, Saturday games, etc...  It was a blast!  Her team was comprised of girls from her school which made it a lot of fun.  Claire was competitive and solid.  She is fast, tries hard, and is not afraid of physical contact.  She scored a goal in almost every game.  It was an exciting season!

Happy Easter 2014

April 20, 2014 - The girls woke up bright and early on Easter Sunday, and the Easter bunny had visited the Nix house.  The girls had a blast hunting eggs.  Claire dashed around quickly while Harper was a bit more cautious in her approach.  We then got dressed and ready to celebrate the real reason for the holiday, that Jesus is risen!  We brought flowers to participate in the flowering of the cross, one of my all-time personal favorite Easter church traditions.  I love the symbol of rebirth and renewal.  After church, we headed to celebrate with the entire family at the UT Club.  It was a special day.

A Cousin birthday

Every April 22nd, Chris, Charlie, and Claire share their birthdays.  Grandma and Pops always have a family birthday party at their house to celebrate all 3.  Claire turned 7, and the boys turned 8.  They are growing up!

Happy 7th Birthday, Claire!

Dear Claire,

Each year, I try to write and record my feelings for you, your interests, your likes/dislikes, etc...  Hopefully, one day this will be a treasure for you.  Claire, in all that you do, you make me proud by being true to yourself.  You are kind, loving, adventurous, smart, brave, and hard-working.  You LOVE being surrounded by friends and family, but you also cherish time alone singing and dancing in your room.  You are a beast on the soccer field, and you are an excellent student in the classroom.  You exhibit manners and you have a heart for God.  Right now, you love the movie Frozen, being outside, singing, dancing, playing school, playing soccer, and organizing things.  :-)  You can be moody when you are hungry or tired, and you struggle to turn your brain off at bedtime.  You worry, sweet girl, and that makes me sad.  It also shows the deep compassion you feel for others and for the world.  I am very proud to be your Mommy, sweet girl, and I look forward to watching you grow into a beautiful young lady.  I am always here for you.  There is nothing you can say or do to make me stop loving you.  Happy 7th Birthday, my Claire Bear, my firstborn, my angel girl, my sweet love.  I love you!

Mommy

April 22, 2014 - This year, we decided to host a large, pretend slumber party at our house.  Basically, the girls come in their pjs, play outside for a while, and then we watched "The Croods."  It was a really fun, wild afternoon.
